Master P’s movies weren’t likely to blow you away, but his soundtracks were another story. He went 2 for 2 out the gate with “I’m Bout It” in ‘97 and “I Got the Hook Up” in ‘98. This soundtrack deserves to be up there with some of the best in the 90’s which many consider the soundtrack heyday.

A star-studded lineup to go alongside the soldiers, A-listers like Jay Z, Bone and Ice Cube all laced the project. Couple that with bangers like “From What I Was Told” by Soulja Slim, “What You Need” by Ghetto Commission and “We Got It” by Serv-on , Magic, Fiend and Big Ed, you could argue that by this dropping in early ‘98, the success of this soundtrack is what propelled the lesser known soldiers to do numbers the rest of the year. Another example of genius marketing by Master P.
